• School Meal Program Overview

Foods and beverages available in schools are only those which meet the nutritional needs of students and contribute to the development of desirable health habits unless provided otherwise in School Board rules.

Students may elect to choose at least four of the five food items offered at lunch and three of the four food items offered at breakfast, which are sold at unit prices.

All schools participate in the National School Lunch Program and National School Breakfast Program and serve student meals according to patterns established by the United States Department of Agriculture.

Free or reduced price meals are served to all students who qualify based on eligibility criteria. The Income Eligibility Guidelines for free or reduced price meals are in accordance with the scales provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Education as adopted by the State Board of Education based upon income guidelines prescribed by the United States Secretary of Agriculture.
